Mayor’s Multiculturalism Backfires
Mohamed Christmas Statue Not Well Received
Annapolis (SPP) –Mayor Gavin Buckley’s attempt at multiculturalism backfired this week when Muslims took offense at the City of Annapolis’s holiday display downtown. Local Muslim groups have expressed disapproval while extremists overseas have vowed to seek revenge on the Mayor and the city.
It all started last weekend, when Mayor Buckley and the City unveiled a tribute to the holy prophet of Islam at the end of Ego Alley, next to the City’s Hanukkah Menorah and near the City’s Christmas Tree. The statue, which is censored here, out of respect for our Islamic friends, depicts a large 3D printed plastic rendition of the 7th century religious leader. Painted green, the color associated with Islam, the figure is also wearing a festive Santa hat.
“The Prophet, peace be upon him, considered Christ a prophet too. So I figured he would be all into Christmas. Also, it’s Ramadan this time of year,” Mayor Buckley explained to The Super Patriot Post.
Islamic experts have pointed out that while Mohamed did consider Christ a prophet, there is no record of him celebrating Christmas, that he disapproved of graven images, and that the date of Ramadan changes yearly based on the lunar calendar and was last observed in early summer of this year.
“The Mayor couldn’t be more wrong on this one,” Dr. Guy Fawkes, of the University of Glen Burnie, told The Super Patriot Post. “ I bet he was shit faced drunk when he came up with this idea.”
When reached for comment, Buckley denied being drunk and insisted he was in the Trip Room at the Rec Center, taking acid instead. “It just came to me in a vision. I thought it was pretty cool. But since I unveiled it, I’ve been getting death threats left and right. I’ve told them to take it down,” Buckley said.
The City will remove the statue next week, or whenever they get around to it.
The Annapolis Muslim Committee expressed their disapproval, but Committee President, Dr. Ali Mohamed stated, “While we are offended by any depiction of the Prophet, Peace be upon him, we believe the Mayor did not intend offense and oppose all violence. He meant well. He’s just an idiot.”
The extremist Islamic State group (ISIS) announced a fatwa against Buckley and the City. They have called for supporters to retaliate inany way possible. Buckley currently has a 24-hour police detail outside his home.
While most experts have stated the statue was inappropriate, local Annapolis resident, Wayne Simmons, a former CIA agent and Fox News contributor, took a different view. “Muslims don’t need a reason to kill,” Simmons stated. “Putting up the statue was a good move. Got them all flustered. They didn’t expect this because Buckley’s normally a spineless liberal. They’re so upset now, they can’t even concentrate enough to make bombs. Well played, Mr. Mayor.”
Buckley told The Super Patriot Post, that was absolutely not his intention.
