Buckley Makes Outback Steakhouse Slogan New City Motto

“No Rules, Just Right” to replace “Vixi Liber Et Moriar

New Flags Will Be Out Soon

Annapolis (SPP) – Mayor Gavin Buckley surprised Annapolis residents today by announcing that he changed the City’s official motto, “Vixi Liber Et Moriar“, which is Latin for “I have lived, and I shall die, free” to “No Rules, Just Right” the slogan Outback Streakhouse used until 2007.

“Outback is the best restaurant in Annapolis,” Buckley said, referring to the chain steakhouse which is technically located right outside of the city’s borders in Parole. “I go there all the time. Whenever I have friends or family in town from Australia, I take them there for a taste of home. Simply the best food. I love the Blooming Onion, Aussie Cheese Fries, and Walkabout Soup. I can’t get enough of that place, mate.”

Buckley noted that he always loved Outback’s slogan, “No rules, just right” and said “it sort of became” his “life’s philosophy over time.” “It sums up not just my life, but the Australian spirit. I’m trying to bring a bit of that to Annapolis. I think the Australian spirit is better than the Greek spirit Pantelides was trying to bring here. Look at Greece, it’s bankrupt and corrupt, while Australia is booming, mate,” Buckley stated.

Alderman Marc Rodriguez expressed some support for the change. “No one even knows what that Latin slogan means. And it’s 2017, do we really need a motto picked by old dead white guys when we can have a motto picked by an old live white guy? I think that’s progress.”

Alderman Fred Paone said he opposed the change, but figured it was going to happen eventually. “The motto states that we are living free, but that’s a farce. I just wish I knew what the hell the new motto means.”

The City Motto is proudly displayed on the City’s flag. Buckley stated new flags were ordered with the “No Rules, Just Right” motto on them and that the old flags would be destroyed.
