Gavin Buckley Proposes “Trip Room” at Pip Moyer Rec Center
Mayor-elect credits illegal drugs with turning his life around
Annapolis (SPP) – Mayor-elect Gavin Buckley really surprised everyone today when he proposed adding a “trip room” to the City-owned Pip Moyer Recreational Center. The Center serves as a gym and meeting place for city residents, but Buckley believes that residents, especially city officials, could benefit from having a room where they can safely use psychedelic drugs.
“Psychedelics saved my life,” Buckley explained. “Twenty years ago I was coked out of my mind most of the time. And if I wasn’t high, I was typically piss drunk. I would spend my time banging whores and doing other stupid shit. Then one night my friend gave me some LSD. I thought it would be fun. Next thing I know I’m talking to God and she, that’s right God appeared to me as a female, asked me why I was killing myself. Since that time, I have really cleaned up my act and got my life together. I hardly ever do coke these days.”
Buckley went on to explain that he got most of the ideas for his restaurants when he was either on LSD or mushrooms. “It gives you great insight. And don’t just ask me. Look at other people like Steve Jobs who credit psychedelics with their creative success.”
Noting that there were risks associated with psychedelics, Buckley said it was a good idea to have a safe space for city residents to use them. “We can’t just have people stumbling around the streets thinking they are in another world. Accidents happen that way. I hope to have the room staffed with a nurse in case anyone needs help.”
Buckley stated that he hoped to convince the members of the city council and high ranking officials to join him on trips to gain insights into the city’s problems and how to fix them. “Police Chief Baker looked at me sort of funny when I told him about my idea. I think he thought I was joking. But with the murder rate out of control, he should consider it. He might get some good ideas out of it.”
Buckley noted that he hoped to have the room opened up within a few months. It would be open to all city residents, but they would have to bring their own drugs. Children, he said, would not be allowed in, unless they were older teenagers and “really cool and mature.”
